The Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology conference (AMN) is a biennial event run by the Investigators of the MacDiarmid Institute due to be held for the sixth time. The conference is at the forefront of advanced materials and nanotechnology both in the Australasia region and worldwide and forms a core part of the scientific programme for physical scientists within New Zealand. The high calibre of the conference is reflected in the quality of the keynote and invited speakers, which in the past have included top international Scientists such as Nobel Laureates, Sir Harry Kroto, Sir Anthony Leggett and the Cavendish Professor of Physics, Sir Richard Friend. The quality of keynote speakers for AMN-6 is no exception having already secured Professor Joanna Aizenberg of Harvard University, Professor Krzysztof Matyjazewski of Cargengie Mellon University and Professor Don Eigler of IBM.

We anticipate over 400 participants in the conference predominantly from the Australasia and Asia-pacific region but with considerable participation from worldwide delegates, specifically from the US and EU. In order to run an ambitious and rewarding conference series we are dependent upon generous sponsorship from the MacDiarmid Institute partner institutes and related industrial contacts. Within New Zealand the MacDiarmid Institute scientists are well regarded with prestigious awards and success in externally competitive funding. They are also responsible for large equipment purchases and the running of productive and collaborative research groups around New Zealand. Our international conference delegates are similarly positioned in their home countries making this event a great opportunity to connect with top researchers at all career levels.
